I tried to read it several times. I purchased Sarah Thornton's book "Seven Days in the Art World" in 2008 weeks before the crash. Arthur, I don't need motivation either. 7 Days in the Art World- The Crit. I'm ashamed to confess it, but I only take time to read books during the summer or when I'm on vacation. John Baldessari along with countless other artist(i.e Alvin Lucier, Judy Chicago, Sadie Banning, Michael Asher, Karen Finley, Peter Halley, Stan Douglas, Jim Shaw, Alan Kaprow,Jeff Wall etc. Sarah Thornton's book Seven Days in the Art World, which documents the frenzied peak of the recent art boom, arrives next week in American bookstores, just as that boom appears to be sputtering out. Luckily enough, finally the summer is approaching and. But this is a really good book. Slow to take action, I didn't purchase tickets in time to hear author Sarah Thornton's talk this Saturday about Seven Days in the Art World. I'm currently reading Seven Days In the Art World, by Sarah Thornton, perhaps most well known for her book about sub-cultural capital and the rave scene. Sarah Thornton, author of Seven Days in the Art World, dramatically announced her withdrawal from the art world with an article in TAR magazine titled 'Top 10 reasons not to write about the art market'. Felix Salmon passes judgment on Seven Days in the Art World. Each time, after reading a few pages, I experienced a giddy sense of nausea. We generally don't agree with Felix Salmon's rote assumption that Contemporary art is a bubble. I just finished reading Seven Days in the Art World by Sarah Thornton, a fabulous account of a microculture –the high-end modern art world– that 99% of us will never experience.
